La Fuerza: The first vermouth from the Andes

La Fuerza is a project which came alive based upon the ideas and work of four friends who have decades of experience in the food and drink industry: Julián Díaz, chef, restauranter co-founder of 878 Bar and Los Galgos; Agustín Camps, who has 15 years leading projects and developing brands in the drinks industry; Sebastián Zuccardi, viticulturist and third generation of winemakers in the renowned Familia Zuccardi winery; and Martín Auzmendi, journalist and entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience working with beverage companies. When these four friends came together, they knew they wanted to create a natural and quality drink that captured the spirit of Argentina’s history and future. Vermú de los Andes and La Fuerza Bar are dedicated to promoting the vermouth scene both in Argentina and around the world.

La Fuerza Vermú

La Fuerza is the first Vermouth of the Andes, and is made from two varieties of grapes that grow at the foothills of the Andes Mountain range in Mendoza, Argentina’s premiere wine country. The Red, an expression of Malbec, and the White, made with Torrontés grapes, are comprised of locally grown botanicals, wine alcohol, and natural grape must. Over 40 botanicals are used like bark, herbs, seeds, and flowers, along with native plants including Artemisia Mendozana, carqueja, lemon verbena, and creosote bush, which are all collected by hand in the Andes. It also contains sage, elderberry, gentian, and grapefruit and orange peels. The entire elaboration process -- from gathering plants, distillation, and bottling -- takes place in Mendoza.

In the last edition of the del International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), La Fuerza Blanco and La Fuerza Rojo have been awarded with silver and gold medals, being the only vermouths outside Europe achieving this recognition.

In 2019, La Fuerza launched its first seasonal vermouth Primavera en los Andes, made with Torrontés grapes and botanicals that grow in the Andes during the spring.

La Fuerza Bar

Vermouth is a drink with strong ties to bar culture around the world, ever since its origins in Italy. Argentina has seen significant vermouth traditions starting from when it was introduced by European immigrants who would hang out all day at casual bars of the people and drink vermouth for hours.
La Fuerza Bar celebrates the essence of vermouth’s great story. The informal space is open every day, afternoon and night, and hosts people of all ages and backgrounds, whether they are neighborhood regulars, arrive on foot, car, bike, or the many buses that pass by.
It’s located on an iconic corner, and much of the original structure has been left intact since it was built in 1933 by an Italian immigrant family. Those from Buenos Aires will feel at home, and those from abroad will have a chance to witness true Porteño culture first hand.

La Fuerza Bar is heritage, it’s memory, it’s history, it’s a new look on a Porteño classic, it possesses all the main principles of why we created the vermouth: honoring the past while thinking towards the future. The bar has been awarded by TIME Magazine as one of the World’s Greatest Places to visit during 2019. The key factors evaluated for being part of the list includes quality, originality, sustainability, innovation and influence.
